USS Cobia
The USS Cobia is a submarine from World War II that visitors can explore at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc. The vessel displays narrow bunks, the control room, and the torpedo rooms where weapons were once stored.
The submarine served in the US Navy during World War II and completed several patrol missions. Manitowoc built 28 submarines for the Navy during the war, and this vessel now stands as a memorial to that era.
Guided tours are available during the day and show the different areas of the vessel. Special tours during winter months offer a closer look at the technical details of the machinery and design.
Visitors can sleep overnight on board and experience what it was like to be part of the crew. Children are allowed to open a torpedo door and slide into the torpedo bay, which is one of the most memorable moments of the visit.
