Marché de Noël Paris La Défense
Marché de Noël Paris La Défense is a seasonal market festival with over 300 small wooden chalets spread across the La Défense plaza in Puteaux. The site includes a large gift center covering more than 1,000 square meters, a 540 square meter ice skating rink, food stands offering regional and international dishes, plus entertainment areas with rides, performances, and workshops.
The market began as an annual tradition developed over several years and has since grown into the largest Christmas event in the Île-de-France region. Each edition expanded with additional lights, entertainment, and attractions.
The market brings together regional French traditions and international influences, featuring handmade items like Provençal nativity figurines and crafts from different areas. Visitors experience a mix of local artisans and vendors who share their techniques and regional specialties.
Access is easy via Metro line 1, RER A and E trains, or tram line 2, all stopping nearby. Drivers can use accessible parking lots P1 and P2, and the site offers wide pathways and elevators for wheelchair users.
The market prioritizes environmental sustainability with reusable cups, energy-saving LED lights, and unheated chalets. Local charities and groups support people in need, fight food waste, and help homeless families during the season.

Every year, when the advent arrives, Christmas markets change the squares and old streets of European towns. Wooden stalls are set up and offer local flavors, crafts, and seasonal decorations. Walking from one stand to another, you can taste hot mulled wine, roasted almonds, and see the handmade goods that each region is proud of. In Germany, markets are found in Nuremberg, Dresden, Munich, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. Austria has markets in Vienna and Salzburg. France gathers its markets in Strasbourg, Metz, Montbéliard, and Lille. Brussels, Bruges, and Louvain welcome visitors in Belgium, Maastricht and Valkenburg in the Netherlands, and Wrocław, Krakow, and Poznań in Poland. These places tell stories about their local history and food traditions. From Prague to Budapest, passing through Zagreb, Basel, and Bern, markets are also found in Central and Eastern Europe. Scandinavian cities like Stockholm, Gothenburg, Oslo, and Rovaniemi, along with Riga and Tallinn in the Baltic states, keep this tradition alive. London, Edinburgh, Merano, Asti-Govone, and Madeira finish this winter trip across the continent, each showing how Christmas is celebrated in their ways.
