Villa dall’va
Villa Dall'Ava is a residence in Saint-Cloud designed by Rem Koolhaas and built between 1984 and 1991. The house features a reflective aluminum exterior, a rooftop swimming pool, and expansive glass walls that flood the interior with natural light and connect living spaces to the surrounding garden.
The house was built to fulfill the owner Dominique Boudet's vision of a modern family home that expressed his passion for architectural innovation. Since 2018, the villa has been officially protected as a historic monument due to its architectural significance.
Located on a hillside, the house provides views over Paris from the rooftop area and features multiple levels connected throughout. Comfortable footwear is recommended as exploring the various floors and interconnected spaces involves considerable walking and navigation.
The rooftop pool is supported by a massive concrete wall and tilted metal pillars, creating a striking suspended effect that makes the structure appear to defy gravity. This unconventional engineering approach showcases Koolhaas' experimental methods for pushing structural boundaries.
