Alibi Room
Alibi Room is a pub in downtown Vancouver housed in a century-old building at the edge of historic Gastown. The space features exposed brick walls, tall windows overlooking the harbor and surrounding mountains, and about fifty beers on tap, primarily from local breweries across the province.
The pub opened in 2006 and was among the first venues in Vancouver to offer a wide selection of imported and local craft beer. Since then, it has remained a reliable fixture and played a significant role in shaping the city's early craft beer scene.
The name "Alibi Room" playfully suggests a reason to gather and linger here. This spot serves as a neighborhood meeting place where locals and visitors come together to share conversations and discover new favorites over quality beer and food.
The venue typically opens in late afternoon and stays open into the evening, with extended hours on weekends, making it a good spot to unwind after work or enjoy a relaxed evening. High tables and a long bar allow you to watch bartenders at work, and the central location makes it easy to find and access.
Trains regularly pass by the tall windows, bringing movement and life to quiet moments inside the pub. This unexpected railway connection creates a distinctive dynamic that visitors often notice and gives the space its own character.
