Rittner Seilbahn - Funivia del Renon
The Funivia del Renon is a cable car that carries visitors from Bolzano up to a high plateau in the Ritten area. The journey takes about 12 minutes and features large windows that allow passengers to see forests, small villages, and the city spreading out below.
The cable car was built many years ago to connect Bolzano with the higher villages in the Ritten area. It has become a reliable way for both residents and visitors to reach the mountains without needing a car or undertaking long hikes.
The Funivia del Renon links Bolzano with small mountain villages shaped by generations of farming and apple cultivation. Visitors see traditional communities along the route and gain a sense of how people have lived in these highlands for centuries.
The valley station is located in Bolzano on Rittner Strasse and is easy to find. A large parking area called RiBo is nearby, where you can leave your car for a small hourly fee with a daily maximum price.
In its early days, the cable car was operated by hand before becoming the modern system it is today. This long tradition shows how crucial the link between city and mountains has always been for the community.
