Little Saint James, island in U. S. Virgin Islands
Little Saint James is a small island in the US Virgin Islands located southeast of Saint Thomas in the Caribbean Sea. The island covers about 70 acres and features volcanic topography with cliffs, hills, dense green vegetation, and sandy beaches surrounded by clear blue water.
The island was sold from Denmark to the United States in 1917 and later became a private estate. From 1998 to 2019 it was owned by Jeffrey Epstein, who substantially modified the property with a main villa, guest cottages, a helipad, and various other structures designed by architect Edward Tuttle.
The island is privately owned and not open to the public without special permission from the current owner. There are no public ports, facilities, or standard visiting arrangements available for tourists or casual visitors.
A curious building on the property features a blue-striped exterior and a gold dome, whose true purpose remains unclear to visitors and observers. This enigmatic structure has inspired much speculation about its original function.
