Maison Charles Trenet
Maison Charles Trenet is a small arts centre in Narbonne dedicated to the life and work of the famous singer and songwriter Charles Trenet. The building contains exhibits with videos, photographs, personal objects, and documents that tell the story of his musical career and creative journey.
Charles Trenet was born in this house on May 18, 1913, and spent his childhood here before becoming a famous singer and songwriter. The house opened to the public in November 2000 and has served as an arts centre ever since.
The house is named after the singer Charles Trenet, who grew up here and discovered his passion for music and songwriting. Visitors can see how this modest childhood home shaped his joyful artistic spirit and lifelong connection to Narbonne.
The centre is located near Narbonne's city centre and is easy to reach on foot, with cafes and shops nearby. Opening hours change with the seasons, and for safety reasons, only 18 visitors are allowed inside at one time.
The property features a special 'extraordinary garden of Trenet' where visitors can walk through green spaces inspired by his songs and life. This quiet garden extends the visit beyond the building and connects nature with the artist's memories.
