NDs Film World
NDs Film World is a film studio with sound stages and outdoor sets in Khalapur Taluka outside Mumbai where movies and TV shows are produced. The facility includes multiple sound stages, outdoor areas designed for different scene types, on-site accommodations for cast and crew, and post-production spaces for editing and sound work.
The studio was founded by Nitin Chandrakant Desai, a renowned art director in the Indian film industry. It has grown over the years to become a major production location for movies and television on the outskirts of Mumbai.
The studio hosts performances featuring local dances and traditions from Maharashtra that visitors can watch and experience. These shows share regional customs and stories through music and movement that are part of the area's heritage.
The studio is easily accessible by car or train, located along the Mumbai to Pune route with signs directing you there, and the nearest train station is Karjat. It offers parking, shuttle services on site, and advance booking for visits is recommended for a smooth experience.
Some sets appear worn and show age due to maintenance issues, while newer areas look polished and fresh. Visitors notice old structures from famous films standing side by side with well-maintained newer facilities, creating an interesting contrast between the studio's long production history and ongoing development.
