Saheliyon-Ki-Bari
Saheliyon-Ki-Bari is a park in Girwa Tehsil located beside Fateh Sagar Lake, featuring fountains, marble pavilions, and a lotus pond throughout its grounds. The garden spans wide green lawns shaded by trees, with marble elephant sculptures positioned around the water features that direct water flow into decorative basins.
The garden was built in the 1700s by Maharana Sangram Singh as a gift for the queen and her 48 attendants after their marriage. The fountains and structures were crafted by local artisans and were engineered to draw water naturally from the adjacent lake without mechanical assistance.
The garden was created as a private retreat where the queen and her attendants could escape and spend time together away from formal palace duties. Visitors today can observe how the space was designed specifically for leisure and relaxation, with fountains and pavilions arranged to encourage lingering in the shade.
Visit during the cooler months from October to March when the weather is pleasant for walking and exploring the grounds. Bring sunscreen and water, especially if you plan to walk for an extended time, and allow about two hours to see all the features and enjoy the peaceful environment comfortably.
The fountains operate without electricity by drawing water naturally from the adjacent lake through an underground system of channels that remains functional after centuries. This engineering feat demonstrates how the builders harnessed the lake's pressure to create the water displays still seen today.
