Playground of Ponétie, Sports venue and garden square in Aurillac, France
The Champ de jeux de la Ponétie is a sports venue and garden square in Aurillac that brings together outdoor and indoor facilities for a range of sports. It includes grass and synthetic soccer and rugby fields, an athletics track, a climbing wall, and a sandy pétanque area, with green spaces and wide paths throughout.
The pétanque area of the complex opened between 1975 and 1984, making it one of the oldest parts of the site. Over the years, more fields and indoor spaces were added to meet the growing needs of local clubs.
The grounds are used by local clubs, schools, and families who come regularly for training or matches. On weekends, the rugby and soccer fields are often occupied by players of all ages.
The site is easy to reach on foot or by bike from the town center and has a parking area with around 100 spaces. Some spots are reserved for people with reduced mobility, and lighting allows use after dark.
Alongside the existing facilities, a modular room of around 130 square meters (about 1,400 square feet) is planned inside the complex for warm-up sessions, meetings, and training courses. The renovation also includes an extension of the changing rooms to accommodate a growing number of women athletes.
