Le Piston Pélican, Bar and pub in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, France
Le Piston Pélican is a bar and pub in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, on Rue de Bagnolet. The venue has a main room with high ceilings and large windows, a sidewalk terrace, and an upstairs room that can be rented for private events.
The place was a lively neighborhood café run by the Piston Circus brass band in the 1990s. After a long pause, it was taken over by Stéphane and Agathe, who reopened it in the spirit of the original.
The interior of Le Piston Pélican reflects the style of old Parisian bistros: a zinc counter, high ceilings with moldings, globe light fixtures, and old floor tiles. Above the counter hangs a painting of three pelicans, which gave the bar its name.
The place sits on a corner of Rue de Bagnolet and is easy to spot from the street thanks to its dark green facade. A nearby metro station makes it easy to reach without a car.
The zinc counter was made by the Nectoux workshop, which specializes in crafting this type of bar counter. This kind of handmade zinc counter is now very rare in Paris bars.
