Quintín's Mill, Windmill in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain

The Meunerie de Quintín, also known as Molino de Quintín, is a windmill built in the early 20th century in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain, close to the shore of the Mar Menor lagoon. It has stone walls, a wooden structure on top, and broad sails made of wood and canvas that were built to catch wind coming from different directions.

The windmill was built in the early 20th century, when salt production around the Mar Menor lagoon was a key part of the local economy. It was used to pump water from the lagoon into nearby salt pans, making wind power a direct part of the production process.

The Meunerie de Quintín stands near the sea promenade of San Pedro del Pinatar and remains a familiar landmark for local residents who connect it to the town's salt-working past. The visible stone walls and old wooden gear frames give visitors a direct sense of how wind power was used in everyday work here.

The windmill is accessible year-round and sits close to the sea promenade of San Pedro del Pinatar, making it easy to visit on foot as part of a walk along the shore. Getting close to the outer walls lets you see the old stone construction and the remnants of the wooden gear system.

Unlike most windmills, this one was built not to grind grain but to lift salt water from the Mar Menor lagoon and move it into the salt pans. The large grinding stones still inside the mill were used to crush salt, not flour.
