The Comedy of Clermont, Theater in Clermont-Ferrand, France
La Comédie de Clermont is a national theater in Clermont-Ferrand, France, opened in 2020 in a building designed by Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura on the site of the former bus station. It has two halls: l'Horizon, with around 900 seats, and les Possibles, a smaller space with around 300 seats.
Before moving into its own building, the Comédie de Clermont performed at various venues across the city, including the Maison des Congrès and the Opéra-Théâtre. In September 2020, it moved into its current purpose-built home.
The Comédie de Clermont has a café area where visitors can meet before or after a show. The venue also connects to everyday neighborhood life, including a local organic vegetable pickup point.
The theater is centrally located in Clermont-Ferrand and easy to reach on foot. Tickets can be bought online or at the box office, though the box office may close for a few weeks during summer.
The building was designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura, a winner of the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in architecture. The theater's director, Céline Bréant, was named an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2026.
