Upside Down House, Tourist attraction in Brighton, England

The Maison à l'envers is a tourist attraction on the seafront in Brighton, England, built to look as though the house is standing on its roof. It has two floors with rooms including a kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, and a children's play area, all furnished with chairs, countertops, and decorations fixed to the ceiling rather than the floor. The outside is painted a bright turquoise, making it easy to spot from the street.

The house is part of a group of similar upside-down buildings created by the same company at different locations across the UK. The concept was born from a desire to build a space that makes people laugh and step outside their everyday routine.

The Maison à l'envers sits on Brighton's seafront, between the Brighton i360 and The Seahorse, fitting naturally into the city's reputation for playful and creative expression. Inside, a vintage bicycle hangs from the ceiling and a copy of the Mona Lisa decorates a vault room, adding small unexpected details to the experience.

The house is on the seafront in Brighton and is easy to reach by car or public transport, with a small parking area nearby. The ground floor is partly accessible for wheelchairs, but the upper floor is only reachable by a spiral staircase, which may be difficult for visitors with mobility issues.

The company that runs the Maison à l'envers changes the interior decor to match different seasons and holidays, so the house looks different at Halloween, Christmas, or Easter. Visitors who are pregnant or prone to strong motion sickness are advised not to enter, as the tilted floor can create a noticeable sense of disorientation.
