CAMPREDON art & image, Arts center in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, France
CAMPREDON art & image is an arts center in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, housed in an 18th-century townhouse and dedicated to contemporary art, photography, digital art, and immersive works. Each season, it focuses on a single main theme that brings together works from different disciplines.
The building was designed by Esprit-Joseph Brun and completed in 1746, later serving as a community house for the Sisters of Saint-Charles in the 19th century. The town bought it in 1978 and opened an art center there in 2003, after a careful restoration.
The center is housed in a building with a courtyard whose walls are painted with trompe-l'oeil frescoes and a dolphin fountain at its center. These details give the space a character that feels very different from a typical exhibition hall.
The center is close to the old town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, within walking distance of the canals, antique shops, and restaurants. It is closed on Mondays and on certain public holidays, so it is worth checking the schedule before your visit.
Since 2023, the center has presented just one large exhibition per year instead of the three separate shows it used to organize. This shift allows works by different artists to be connected more deeply around a shared theme.
