The Igreja do Salvador is a church in the Salvador e Santa Maria da Feira neighborhood of Beja, Portugal. It has a single main nave with a curved ceiling, interior arches, and small side chapels connected along the walls.
The church dates back to 1264, making it one of the oldest places of worship in Beja. Over the following centuries it was rebuilt several times, which explains the mix of styles visible in its structure today.
The Igreja do Salvador is the main church of the neighborhood and is dedicated to the Holy Savior, whose name shapes the area around it. On feast days, processions move through the surrounding lanes, with religious figures carried through streets lined with old stone buildings.
The church sits in the old part of Beja, close to the historic lanes of the Mouraria and the old city gates, making it easy to include in a walk through the city center. Morning visits tend to be quieter, before any services begin.
In 1519 the Corpus Christi confraternity had its headquarters inside this church, showing that the building served as a meeting place for some of the most influential people in the city at the time. A cistern that once supplied water to the area still stands just beside the church.
