Base Plein Air André Mermet is an outdoor recreation area along the Charente river in Cognac, near the François 1er park, with around 8 hectares (20 acres) of grass, trees, sports fields, and play areas. The site also features picnic tables, a playground, a snack bar, and pedalo rentals available during warmer months.
The site was created in 1967 by a local doctor named André Mermet, who wanted to build an outdoor space where families could spend time together. The area still carries his name today as a tribute to his role in shaping leisure life in Cognac.
The Base Plein Air André Mermet is a place where families from Cognac gather regularly, especially when the weather is good. Every Sunday in July and August, free activities are organized, bringing locals and visitors together outdoors.
