Mohammed Bin Jassim House, Museum in Doha, Qatar
Mohammed Bin Jassim House is a museum in Doha, Qatar, located in the Msheireb district. It is one of four heritage houses that make up Msheireb Museums, and it focuses on the history and development of the area.
Built by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Jassim Al-Thani, son of the founder of modern Qatar, the house was restored and opened as a museum in 2015. It is part of the Msheireb Museums, which preserve the heritage of the area.
The house shows traditional Qatari architecture with a central courtyard and displays everyday objects from the past. Visitors can listen to recordings of former residents sharing memories of Msheireb, giving a personal view of the area's history.
The museum is in the Msheireb Downtown Doha area, easily reached by taxi or metro. It is best to visit in the morning or late afternoon when it is cooler, and allow about an hour to see the exhibits.
The museum houses the Echo Memory Art Project, which uses objects found during the excavation of the site. These items give a direct link to the daily life of the area's past residents.
