Al Koot Fort, Military fortress near Souq Waqif, Doha, Qatar

The square-shaped fort features three round towers and one rectangular tower, with traditional Qatari battlements designed for defensive purposes.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani ordered the reconstruction of the abandoned Ottoman structure in 1927, maintaining its original military architecture.

The fort exhibits traditional Qatari handicrafts, fishing equipment, wooden ornaments, historical photographs, and maritime artifacts from the region.

Visitors can reach the fort via Souq Waqif or Msheireb metro stations, with guided tours available through advance reservations at the museum office.

The structure transformed from a police station to a prison, then to a military fortress, before becoming a museum dedicated to Qatar's heritage.
