Caister Castle Car Collection, Automobile museum in Great Yarmouth, England

Caister Castle Car Collection is a private automobile museum near Great Yarmouth, England, housed in a purpose-built building on the grounds of Caister Castle. The collection brings together over 120 cars and around 100 motorcycles, ranging from steam cars and early electric vehicles to racing cars, horse-drawn carriages, and pedal cars.

The collection was built up over many decades by enthusiasts who gathered vehicles from different eras, from the earliest days of motoring to the late 20th century. The exhibition building was expanded more recently to make room for the growing number of exhibits.

Several vehicles on display belonged to well-known figures, such as Jim Clark's Lotus racing car and Peter Rachman's Cadillac, giving each one a personal story beyond its design. Walking past them feels less like viewing objects and more like meeting a piece of someone's life.

The museum is open from May to September, so it is worth checking before you visit, as it closes for the rest of the year. On-site facilities include a picnic area and refreshments, and the building is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility.

The oldest vehicle in the collection is a Panhard et Levassor from 1893, widely regarded as one of the first true automobiles ever built. Standing next to it puts the entire history of the car into perspective in a way that no display panel can fully convey.
