Darangi Village is a small coastal village in Namhae, in the south of South Korea, built on terraced hillsides overlooking the sea. Narrow paths wind between stone and wood houses, and the hillside fields are shaped into steps that descend toward the water.
The village was originally a farming community where people cultivated rice and vegetables on steep terraced slopes. Over time, fishing became an equally important part of life alongside the land work.
Villagers keep seasonal festivals alive, wearing traditional clothes and singing songs passed down through generations. Fresh seafood is central to daily life, and small market stalls fill the air with the smell of salt and grilled fish.
The paths through the village are steep and narrow, so solid walking shoes are a good idea. Parking near the entrance and exploring on foot is easier than driving into the narrower inner streets.
