Devrent Vadisi, Valley in Cappadocia, Turkey
Devrent Vadisi, also known as Imagination Valley, is a natural valley in Cappadocia, Turkey, filled with wind- and water-shaped tuff rock formations. The formations have no man-made structures and stand freely along a short walking path through the valley.
The rock formations in Devrent Vadisi were created by volcanic ash from nearby mountains, including Mount Erciyes and Mount Hasan, which settled and hardened into soft tuff over geological time. Wind and rain then slowly eroded the tuff, carving the animal-like shapes visible today.
The valley sits along the road between Zelve Open-Air Museum and Avanos and is easy to reach by car or tour bus, with a small parking area at the entrance. The ground is uneven in places, so sturdy footwear is a good idea, and bringing water is wise since there are no shops inside.
One rock formation near the entrance looks so much like a kneeling camel that it has been fenced off to protect it from too much foot traffic. You can see it clearly from the roadside without even walking into the valley.
