Boztepe Teleferik Istasyonu, Cable car station in Nizamettin Mahallesi, Ordu, Turkey
Boztepe Teleferik İstasyonu is the lower cable car station in the Nizamettin Mahallesi neighborhood of Ordu, a city on Turkey's Black Sea coast. The line runs from near the waterfront up to the top of Boztepe hill, and the ride takes about eight minutes each way.
The cable car opened in 2011 and was built to connect Boztepe hill with the center of Ordu more easily. Since then, it has become one of the most visited spots in the city for both locals and travelers.
The name "Boztepe" means "gray hill" in Turkish, referring to the color of the slopes. At the top, cafes and restaurants serve local food while visitors look out over the sea and the rooftops below.
The lower station is close to Atatürk Park, near the waterfront and the city center, so it is easy to reach on foot from many parts of town. Parking is available nearby but fills up quickly during busy periods, so arriving early or later in the day helps.
On certain days, low clouds drift around the cabins as they approach the top, briefly hiding the city below from view. This happens most often in autumn and winter and makes each ride feel noticeably different.
