Marché du centre-ville, Marketplace in Lausanne, Switzerland
The Marché du centre-ville is a central food market held on Place de la Riponne in Lausanne, Switzerland. It brings together around 25 vendors who set up stalls with fresh produce, cheese, meat, and other local goods in the open air.
The market has long been held on Place de la Riponne, but in 2024 urgent work on the parking deck forced it to move temporarily to Rue Centrale and Place Pépinet. After two years, it returned to its original site, responding to the wishes of residents.
The market is a meeting point for locals who come to shop and chat, and the new tasting area lets producers share their products directly. On market days, the square fills with the sounds of vendors and customers in a friendly, everyday scene.
The market takes place on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, and it is easy to reach on foot or by public transport. Arrive early for the best choice, and bring a bag for your purchases.
A new tasting area allows producers to offer samples and animations to take place right in the middle of the market. This addition was part of the return plan, and a call for projects was launched for drink producers to present their offer.
