Maison de la Dame de Brassempouy, Archaeological museum in Brassempouy, France.
The Maison de la Dame de Brassempouy displays archaeological findings from the Pope Caves and features replicas of prehistoric statuettes from the Upper Paleolithic period.
The museum building opened in 2002 to showcase discoveries from excavations conducted at Brassempouy, where archaeologists found the Venus figurine in 1894.
The permanent exhibition presents collections of mammoth ivory carvings and stone tools that demonstrate the technical abilities of Cro-Magnon people 25,000 years ago.
Guided tours run daily throughout the year, with a maximum capacity of 30 visitors per group and special sessions designed for children from age 6.
The museum building takes the form of an unfinished pyramid, reflecting human evolution and incorporating design elements inspired by the headdress of the Venus figurine.
