Dukovany Nuclear Power Station, Nuclear power plant in Dukovany, Czech Republic.
Dukovany Nuclear Power Station is an electricity-generating facility in Dukovany with four Soviet-designed pressurized water reactors that together deliver more than 2000 megawatts. The cooling towers and building complexes spread across a wide site in the rolling countryside between Třebíč and Moravské Budějovice.
Construction began in 1974 during the Czechoslovak era, and the first unit started operations in 1985. The facility was the first nuclear plant on Czech territory and was built using Soviet technology.
The Information Centre at Dukovany Nuclear Power Station receives 30,000 visitors annually, offering guided tours and educational exhibits about nuclear energy production.
An information center on site organizes guided tours through parts of the facility and displays exhibits about energy production. Visitors must register in advance and bring valid identification, as this is a monitored industrial area.
Cooling water comes from the nearby Dalešice Reservoir, which was built specifically to support the plant's operations. The four reactor units share a common water supply system that meets daily needs through underground pipelines.
