O₂ arena, Indoor arena in Prague 9, Czech Republic
The O₂ arena is a large multipurpose venue in Prague 9 with six floors spread across considerable space. The main hall features flexible seating arrangements with standard seats and luxury boxes that can be adapted for different types of events.
Construction began in 2002 and the hall opened on 24 March 2004 as Sazka Arena, in time for that year's ice hockey world championships; it took the O2 name in 2008. HC Slavia Prague played here until 2015, when HC Sparta Prague moved in from Tipsport Arena. The roof is a steel structure 135 metres across weighing 1,200 tonnes.
The arena's name comes from its sponsor, the telecommunications company O2; it was called Sazka Arena until 2008. Since 2007 it has hosted the Transmission electronic music festival, and the foyer holds a plaque stating that Sazka pushed the building through against the will of many.
The arena sits at Českomoravská metro station on line B, with a bus terminal attached, and by the "Arena Libeň jih" tram stop on Českomoravská street. Praha-Libeň railway station is about 700 metres south; the arena's own covered car park holds 1,400 vehicles. The building has a circular plan 33 metres high, so entrances wrap around the perimeter.
The arena's record attendance of 20,209 was set by Billie Eilish on 1 June 2025, surpassing Metallica's 20,174 from 2 April 2018. A memorial plaque in the foyer notes that Sazka pushed the building through against the will of many.
