Town hall of Hradčany

The Town Hall of Hradčany is a complex of several interconnected structures with architectural elements spanning different periods visible across its facade. The building features a prominent stone entrance portal and interior rooms that reflect various functions of district administration.

The building was established in the 14th century as the administrative center of Hradčany and remained the heart of the district's governance for several centuries. When the neighborhood was incorporated into greater Prague, it ceased its original function but was preserved as a historical monument.

This building served as a gathering place where residents of the district came together to address community concerns and make local decisions. Today visitors can walk through these spaces and understand how civic life functioned in Hradčany over the centuries.

The Town Hall is located near Loretánské Square and opens its historical rooms to visitors through regular guided tours. It is best to check opening times beforehand, as visits may be available only during specific hours or days.

The Town Hall was assembled from multiple medieval houses that were gradually connected into a single administrative complex over the centuries. This composition of older structures gives the building special complexity that reflects its long and varied past.
