Cloak Bridge, Stone skyway in Plešivec, Czech Republic.
Cloak Bridge is a roofed stone structure in Plešivec that joins four courtyards of the castle complex. It consists of three stacked levels that serve different purposes and link various rooms of the fortress together.
The original structure was built from wood in the 15th century before being replaced with a stone version. The form seen today was completed in 1767 and followed design principles inspired by medieval fortifications.
The structure displays sculptures of four Christian saints positioned along its length. These figures shaped how people experienced this passage and reflected the spiritual importance of the place for those who crossed it regularly.
Walking across this covered passage is straightforward since the paths are solid and the transitions between levels are clearly marked. The roofed structure protects visitors from weather, making it accessible in most conditions.
The supporting pillars incorporated a waste disposal system connected to the royal bathrooms. This shows how builders cleverly integrated plumbing into the structure to solve practical needs in an ingenious way.
