The castle combines Renaissance and Neoclassical architectural elements with preserved late Romanesque palace features within its stone walls and tower structures.
First documented in 1279, the castle belonged to King George of Poděbrady from 1427 to 1464 before undergoing major reconstructions in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The castle maintains its status as a national cultural monument since 2002, representing the architectural evolution and historical importance of Moravian aristocratic residences.
The castle receives between 6,000 and 10,000 visitors annually and houses sections of the Moravian regional archive within its preserved structure.
