Kunštát Castle is a castle from the Renaissance and Baroque era in Bohemia with stone construction and distinctive towers. The buildings still contain remnants from the late Romanesque period, which were partially preserved beneath later construction.
The castle was first documented in 1279 and later came under the rule of King George of Poděbrady. Major rebuilding took place during the 16th and 17th centuries, when it acquired its present form.
The rooms reflect how noble families lived and managed their estates here across centuries. The layout and furnishings reveal the daily rhythms and social structures of aristocratic life in this region.
The site is easily reached by road and is located in a small village. Parts of the Moravian regional archive are housed inside, which may limit access to certain areas.
The castle contains visible remains from at least three different construction periods layered within its walls. These layers tell the story of rebuilding and adaptation across more than 700 years.
