Church of the Holy Spirit, Late Baroque cemetery church in Kunštát, Czech Republic

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a late Baroque cemetery church in Kunštát, built in 1738 on the site of an older church. It stands within the town cemetery, where the poet František Halas (died 1949) is buried with his wife Libuše and their son Jan Halas (died 2010). A tomb of the Honrichs family was later established beneath the church.

The late Baroque cemetery church was founded in 1738 by Jan Theodor, free baron of Imbsen, on the site of an older church. In 1783, during the Josephine reforms, it was to be abolished, but Ignaz Hypollit, free baron Honrichs of Wolfswarffen and owner of the Kunštát estate, pledged to maintain it at his own expense, so it survived. A Honrichs crypt was later established beneath the church.

The cemetery church is a filial church of the Kunštát na Moravě parish. The poet František Halas, who died in 1949, is buried in the cemetery around it, together with his wife Libuše, their son Jan Halas (died 2010) and the Roman Catholic priest Ladislav Kubíček (died 2004).

The building is supervised by the National Heritage Institute, which oversees its care and maintenance through conservation programs. Visitors should be aware that the structure is under heritage protection and may have specific visiting hours.
