Les Království Reservoir, Reservoir with gothic architecture in Bílá Třemešná, Czech Republic
Les Království is a reservoir with gothic-style architecture in Bílá Třemešná, Czech Republic. The dam extends 218 meters in length and reaches 41 meters in height, with stone towers featuring battlements that resemble a castle.
Engineers built the dam between 1910 and 1919 as a response to devastating floods in July 1897. The structure was complemented a decade later by a hydroelectric plant, which began operating in 1923.
The name Království means Kingdom and reflects the royal forests that once covered this area. The stone battlements and towers give the structure the appearance of a medieval fortress, though it is a modern engineering work.
Visitors can follow marked walking paths along the shore that offer different views of the dam. A parking area sits near the dam entrance, making it easy to reach the grounds.
The dam was declared a national cultural monument in 2010, recognizing its technical and architectural importance. It combines flood control with power generation, which was an advanced solution when it was completed.
