Javořice, Mountain summit in Mrákotín, Czech Republic
Javořice is a granite mountain summit in the Vysočina Region that rises to 837 meters and represents the highest point in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. A television and radio transmitter station has stood at the peak since 1989, visible from surrounding areas.
The first shelter for mountain travelers was built on Javořice in 1925, marking the start of recreational development in this natural area. This early structure made it easier for people to reach the summit and spend time exploring the surroundings.
The mountain stands at the historical boundary between Bohemia and Moravia, marking a significant point where European water systems divide. From the summit on clear days, visitors can see how the landscape spreads across multiple directions and understand the natural geography that shaped the region.
Multiple hiking trails lead to the summit, offering different routes depending on fitness level and preference. The paths are well marked, so finding your way presents no difficulty.
The mountain is made of moldanubic rocks formed through sedimentation in an ancient Precambrian sea, now displaying crystalline slates, gneiss, and quartzite. These ancient stones tell the story of a time before modern continents took shape.
