Rozhledna Diana, Observation tower in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
Rozhledna Diana is a brick observation tower with a covered wooden gallery rising 40 meters (131 feet) from its base. It sits on a ridge at an elevation of 556 meters (1,824 feet) and features an open platform where visitors can stand to look outward.
This tower was built between 1912 and 1914 and originally carried different names reflecting the political changes of its time. It was called Hans Kudlich during the First Republic and later renamed to honor a political figure after World War Two.
The tower takes its name from the Roman goddess Diana and sits on a hilltop above the city. From here, visitors can sense how this place has long served as a gathering point for people seeking views of the surrounding land.
You can reach the tower by cable car from Grand Hotel Pupp at the base, followed by an elevator ride inside, or by walking the marked hiking trail. The walk is doable for people with average fitness level, though the path has some steep sections.
On clear days, visitors can see up to 70 kilometers (43 miles) from the platform, stretching toward the Ore Mountains and the German border. This far-reaching view makes the spot special for grasping the scale of the surrounding land all at once.
