Silesia Euroregion, Euroregion between Czech Republic and Poland
The Silesia Euroregion is a cross-border administrative network that links 22 Polish municipalities and 52 Czech communities, with its main office in Opava. The network spreads across multiple districts on both sides of the border and manages transportation initiatives along with a fund for small projects that support local activities.
The network formed in 1998 when the Association of Municipalities of the Upper Oder River and Czech partners reached an agreement. This founding created the framework for organized cooperation between the two countries along their shared border.
Polish and Czech communities gather regularly through shared projects and conferences that create connections across the border. These meetings bring people from both sides together in practical ways that strengthen local ties.
The network operates from several administrative offices, with coordination centered in Ostrava and connections linking border areas. Visitors can contact local information points to learn about current projects and activities happening across the border region.
The Silesianka project creates a network of observation towers and viewing points positioned along hiking trails throughout the border area. These towers offer hikers vantage points across the shared landscape and link outdoor activities with cross-border exploration.
