Curia Vítkov

Curia Vítkov is an archaeological site with reconstructed medieval buildings, including residences, gate structures, and craft workshops spread across the grounds. The layout reveals how a rural settlement was organized during the Middle Ages.

The site began around 1150 as a residence for a noble family and continued in use for about a century. It reflects a period of expansion when new settlements were established in less populated regions of Central Europe.

This location shows how medieval families lived and worked together in a rural setting. You can observe the different spaces where people cooked, crafted, and conducted their daily business.

The site is best visited from spring through autumn when guided tours are regularly offered on weekends. July offers extended opening hours, making it the most convenient time to explore the grounds.

The reconstructed buildings use authentic medieval construction techniques, including different timber framing methods and a traditional cooking hearth with a clay oven. These elements were developed from archaeological research to show how people actually built and cooked.
