Windmill, Dutch-style windmill in Horní Vítkov, Czech Republic

The Windmill in Horní Vítkov is a Dutch-style structure located in the northern Bohemian landscape. It sits on elevated terrain and displays typical architectural features from the era when wind power was used to mill grain.

The structure was built during a period when wind was the primary energy source for grain processing in the region. It reflects a transition era when traditional wind power was gradually replaced by mechanized methods.

In the 1880s a bakery stood by the mill and the miller baked bread for sale. In 1911 only grain crushing was done here, but the miller then added a wind motor that drove a thresher, a band saw and a butter-making machine.

The structure is accessible via local roads from Chrastava municipality and sits on open terrain with good visibility. Visitors should bring appropriate footwear for accessing the elevated location.
