Bára, Wooden observation tower in Chrudim, Czech Republic.
Bára is a wooden observation tower in Chrudim shaped like a triangular pyramid, reaching about 26 meters tall with a viewing platform at roughly 15 meters high. From the top, visitors can see across the surrounding landscape in all directions.
The first tower opened in 2008 but collapsed during a storm just days later. A rebuilt version was completed in 2009 with improved strength to better withstand harsh weather.
The name Bára connects to local heritage and gives the tower meaning within the community. Visitors experience the surrounding landscape from a perspective that changes how they see the region.
The tower is best visited on clear days when you can see far across the landscape. The climb up the spiral staircase is straightforward and requires normal fitness.
The staircase spirals around a central steel pole, making the climb feel quite different from ordinary towers. The structure is designed to withstand powerful winds that might occur during severe weather.
