Rabštejnek Castle, Gothic castle ruin in Rabštejnská Lhota, Czech Republic.
Rabštejnek Castle is a Gothic ruin positioned on elevated ground with a rectangular tower and narrow building structures. The defensive layout includes fortifications carved into the rock.
The castle was built around 1400 and changed hands between noble families and the town of Chrudim. It was abandoned at the end of the 16th century.
The name comes from German "Rabenstein," meaning raven's nest, showing Germanic influence from medieval times in this region. The structure sits prominently in the local landscape as a reminder of that period.
The ruins remain accessible to visitors throughout the year and are located in the Pardubice Region. The site sits on elevated ground that is reachable on foot.
During the 19th century, sections received hunting lodge windows and sgraffiti decorations in pseudo-Romanesque style. These later additions give the site an unexpected second layer from a different era.
