Buková hora TV Tower, Transmitter station on Buková hora, Verneřice, Czech Republic
The Buková hora TV Tower is a transmission tower in Verneřice that rises 223 meters above the surrounding landscape. Its steel-tube construction supports several decks where broadcasting equipment for television and radio signals is mounted.
An earlier transmission tower at this site, standing 181.5 meters tall, was destroyed by fire in the early 1960s. The current tower was completed in 1967 to restore broadcasting coverage across North Bohemia.
The tower demonstrates the evolution of Czech telecommunications infrastructure, marking a shift from analog to digital broadcasting systems across the northern region.
The tower sits on elevated ground at 683 meters above sea level, allowing its signals to reach across North Bohemia effectively. Its high position makes it visible from far away and serves as a clear landmark in the landscape.
The tower is equipped with meteorological monitoring equipment that collects weather data for the region. This dual function extends its purpose beyond broadcasting alone and supports local weather research.
