Malá Pravčická brána, Natural arch and scenic viewpoint in Jetřichovice, Czech Republic.
Malá Pravčická brána is a natural sandstone arch located in the Bohemian Switzerland region at approximately 390 meters elevation. The formation stands about 2.3 meters tall and 3.3 meters wide, creating an open passage that visitors can walk through directly.
The arch formed gradually through erosion in the sandstone cliffs of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains over many centuries. These natural processes shaped one of the distinctive rock formations in this geological landscape.
The arch's name reflects the shared heritage of a region where German and Czech peoples lived closely together over the centuries. Visitors can observe how both cultures shaped the landscape through the different hiking routes and historical settlements in the area.
The arch is accessible from the Vysoká Lípa parking area via marked hiking trails with wooden steps and root-covered paths leading to the formation. Good hiking shoes are important since the trails can be slippery, especially after rain.
Unlike larger formations in the area, visitors can walk directly on the arch itself and examine the sandstone features up close. This close access to the rock structure makes the experience particularly interesting for photography.
