Kunětická Hora Castle

Kunětická Hora is a Gothic castle sitting on a hilltop near Pardubice featuring two prominent towers and substantial defensive walls. The site spreads across multiple levels with underground storage chambers cut into the slopes beneath the main structures.

The castle was built during the medieval period and gained military importance during the Hussite Wars when commander Diviš Bořek made it a defensive stronghold. This transformation helped it endure as a key fortress through that turbulent era.

The Knights' Hall displays objects related to medieval judicial practices and artifacts collected from various periods of Czech history.

The castle can be reached by following marked paths from Pardubice, with parking available at the base of Kunětická Mountain. Wearing sturdy shoes is recommended since the climb involves uneven terrain and steep sections.

The castle grounds hold a wooden cottage and a cave featuring a notably large dragon statue that ranks among the biggest found at any Czech castle site. This unusual combination reflects the long building history of the location.
