Kačina

Kačina is an Empire-style château with two columned wings extending from the central building across approximately 230 meters, featuring carefully designed interior spaces. The rooms include a circular library with gallery, an 18th-century theater, and extensive collections of historical furnishings and objects.

Construction began in 1802 when Johann Rudolf Chotek commissioned the project, with Dresden architect Christian Friedrich Schuricht designing the layout. The building took 20 years to complete and represents the architectural ideals of early 19th-century Central Europe.

The château houses the Museum of Czech Countryside, which displays how rural communities developed through time. You can see rooms that reflect the daily lives and work of people from this region.

The château is accessible through guided tours that provide access to the main rooms and exhibits. You can also explore the surrounding English landscape park, which offers a pleasant walk around the grounds.

The library holds a notable collection of old atlases displayed in the circular room with its columned gallery. These maps offer a glimpse into how people understood geography in the 18th and 19th centuries.
