Kozí Hrádek, Gothic castle ruin in Sezimovo Ústí, Czech Republic.
The stone foundations and remaining walls of Kozí Hrádek spread across a hilltop, revealing the layout of a medieval defensive structure from the 14th century.
Jan Hus, the Czech religious reformer, found refuge at Kozí Hrádek in 1412 while facing excommunication from the Catholic Church, writing significant texts during his stay.
Archaeological excavations conducted by Josef Švehla from 1899 to 1914 uncovered numerous artifacts that now form an exhibition at the Tábor Museum.
The castle ruins receive over 10,000 visitors annually and maintain regular opening hours from April through October with guided tours available upon request.
The castle met its end in 1438 when troops of Albrecht II of Habsburg set it on fire during their siege of Tábor, leaving it abandoned for centuries.
