Sezimovo Ústí is a municipality with town privileges located where the Lužnice River meets the Chotovinský potok stream in Tábor District. The settlement spans around 846 hectares and sits at an elevation of approximately 399 meters above sea level.
The settlement was first documented in 1250 and suffered destruction in 1420 during the Hussite period. It was rebuilt and renamed Starý Tábor in 1828.
