Hotel Central, Art Nouveau hotel building in New Town, Prague, Czech Republic
Hotel Central is an Art Nouveau building in Prague's New Town, designed with curved facade elements and floral ornaments throughout its structure. The house contains about 90 rooms and displays the characteristic features of this architectural style with playful details at every corner.
Architect Friedrich Ohmann designed this building in 1902, when the Art Nouveau movement was reshaping Prague's cityscape. The structure came into being during a time of major change, when artists and architects were seeking new forms for the modern metropolis.
The building reflects the design language that shaped many Prague structures around 1900, showing how the city approached its facades during this period. The curved lines and floral ornaments were expressions of a new aesthetic awareness that appeared across all details of street-facing walls.
The building is located near Wenceslas Square and is easily reached from several subway and tram stations. Guests will find round-the-clock reception, breakfast service, and rooms designed for people with disabilities.
The building keeps its original Art Nouveau exterior while housing contemporary facilities on the inside, blending historical appearance with modern function. This mix shows how older structures can remain practical today and allow visitors to experience both worlds at once.
