St. George's Basilica, Romanesque church building at Prague Castle, Czech Republic
The basilica features twin towers made of white stone blocks, with the southern tower measuring 6.3 meters wide and the northern tower 5 meters wide.
Duke Vratislaus I established the church around 920 AD as the second sanctuary at Prague Castle, which served as a burial site for Bohemian rulers until 1055.
The church interior contains preserved Romanesque wall paintings in the choir and adjacent St. Ludmila Chapel, along with medieval relief sculptures depicting crowned Madonna with angels.
The basilica stands within the Prague Castle complex in the Hradcany district, forming part of the standard visitor route through the castle grounds.
The northern tower of the basilica deviates from its vertical axis by 40 centimeters, creating an architectural irregularity in the medieval structure.
