Skuteč is a town with municipal privileges in the Chrudim District, situated in the Pardubice Region of eastern Czech Republic. The settlement sits at around 412 meters above sea level and serves as a transport connection point between larger regional centers.
The settlement was first documented in 1289 and gained town privileges during the early 14th century. Its location along an important trade route helped it develop as a regional center over the following centuries.
The town is home to an art school named after composer Vítězslav Novák, which continues to support local artistic learning and cultural activities.
Visitors can reach the town by rail via the line connecting Pardubice and Svitavy, making it easy to travel without a car. Good train connections make it simple to arrive and continue onward throughout the region.
The town was home to the Botas shoe factory until 2022, which for decades provided employment and shaped the character of the community. The closing marked the end of a significant industrial chapter in local life.
