Anenské údolí, Nature reserve in Hroubovice and Skuteč, Czech Republic
Anenské údolí is a nature reserve in the region of Skuteč featuring forests, meadows, and multiple waterways. The terrain spreads across rolling land with the Anenský stream flowing through, linking different habitats together.
The area received official protection status in 2001 and its boundaries were later expanded through a regional decree. These designations recognized the ecological importance of the valley and secured its long-term protection.
The valley takes its name from Saint Anne's Chapel, a structure visitors can still encounter within the reserve today. Local traditions speak of an iron-rich spring that people once believed had healing properties.
The reserve is accessible via marked hiking trails that connect to nearby roads and are easy to explore on foot. The paths pass by the chapel and streams, offering different routes suitable for various fitness levels.
Scientists have documented nearly 100 vertebrate species within the reserve, making it an important site for monitoring biodiversity. This concentration of animal and plant life is noteworthy for a relatively small valley in this region.
