Brdy Military Region, Military training area in Příbram District, Czech Republic.
The Brdy Military Region encompasses 260 square kilometers of forested hills, containing numerous bunkers, military structures, and former training facilities across the landscape.
The area served as an active military training ground from 1926 until December 31, 2015, when operations ceased and the region transformed into a protected landscape zone.
The region contains remnants of military installations that demonstrate the evolution of Czech defense infrastructure throughout the 20th century.
Visitors can access hundreds of kilometers of marked hiking and cycling trails throughout the former military zone, with entry points from surrounding towns.
The military presence in Brdy unexpectedly preserved large sections of original forest, creating an environment where nature flourished without civilian development.
